Zaamani Peace Institute Launches New Research Partnership with KAIPTC

20 January 2025

The Zaamani Peace Institute is pleased to announce a new research partnership with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra. The partnership, formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed on 15 January 2025, will support collaborative research into traditional conflict resolution mechanisms across West Africa.

Under the partnership, the two institutions will co-design and implement a three-year comparative study examining traditional mediation practices in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Togo, with a focus on cross-border conflict dynamics in the Volta Basin region.

"This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to build an evidence base for traditional peacebuilding," said Dr. Alhassan Yakubu, Executive Director of the Zaamani Peace Institute. "By combining our deep community-level expertise with KAIPTC's regional research infrastructure, we can produce insights that inform policy at both national and continental levels."
