Dr. Alhassan Yakubu

PhD Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Bradford

Dr. Yakubu is a leading scholar of indigenous governance and conflict resolution in West Africa. With over twenty years of research experience across Northern Ghana, he has documented the mediation practices of the Dagbon, Mamprugu, Gonja, and Nanumba traditional areas.

Before founding the Zaamani Peace Institute in 2018, Dr. Yakubu served as a Senior Lecturer at the University for Development Studies and as a technical advisor to the Northern Region Peace Advocacy Council (NORPAC). His doctoral research on the role of traditional authorities in the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute was awarded the International Peace Research Association\'s emerging scholar prize.

Dr. Yakubu has published extensively in journals including the African Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research, and Development in Practice. He serves on the advisory boards of several national and international peacebuilding organisations.

Senior Research Fellow at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC). Published extensively on women's roles in traditional conflict resolution.
